| Developing ideas into products and services is remarkably similar to gardening. Tiny, delicate seeds are nurtured and watered, germinate and become seedlings. Being a seedling is the most vulnerable time in a plant’s life. It needs the right climate, the right growing conditions and to be situated in a place where it can grow without threat from its neighbours. With care and attention, seedlings will grow into robust, fruit-bearing plants.
Prima Group is not like other IP development businesses. For a start, developing IP is not the only thing we do and it isn’t our primary source of income. As the commercialisation vehicle for Wintec, we see many intriguing ideas and products and services. Some of them have real commercial potential and some are just nuts. To Prima Group, the important thing is that there is an opportunity for people with innovative ideas to talk about them, get some support and encouragement and know how to take them to the next level. Here’s how we encourage ideas. We have a modest fund for seeding new ideas we believe may have prospects. We have a free space available for innovators to come and spend some time in an environment they can safely share ideas in, and we know people with money to invest and other people who are experts in taking ideas to market.
